Active Trader Market Intelligence: Trend

What does Trend Market Intelligence identify?

Trend Market Intelligence identifies the directional environment established during the middle of the SPX trading session and tracks how it changes. Its posts help traders distinguish an active bullish or bearish Trend from conditions without a qualifying Trend.

Why is the 11:00 AM Eastern baseline important?

The 11:00 AM baseline establishes the initial Trend assessment for the middle-session framework. It provides context for interpreting later developments: whether the session already supports continuation or whether subsequent directional activity is occurring within a No Active Trend environment.

What is the difference between Active Trend and No Active Trend?

An Active Trend means the program has identified a qualifying directional environment. No Active Trend means those conditions are absent at the assessment point. SPX can still move directionally without an active Trend, so price movement alone does not establish the program’s Trend state.

Why does an established Trend create a continuation framework?

An established Trend gives traders a directional condition to evaluate for persistence. The focus becomes whether strength, option flow, and price behavior continue to support that direction—and whether meaningful support or resistance is beginning to challenge it.

How should later directional activity be interpreted on a non-trending day?

Later directional activity may represent a short-term extension rather than the beginning of a sustained trend day. Traders should evaluate its strength, location, and supporting flow within the session’s established context instead of assuming a strong reading guarantees continuation.

What do Trend Started, Trend Weakening, and Trend Lost mean?

Trend Started marks the identification of a qualifying Trend. Trend Weakening communicates deterioration in the supporting condition. Trend Lost indicates that the established Trend no longer meets the program’s requirements. These posts describe changes in the directional environment rather than automatic entry or exit instructions.

How do the dashboard tools help evaluate Trend changes?

The Flow Map reveals relevant option activity and seller-defined levels. The GEX Trend Monitor displays GTS and its development through time, while the Delta Flow Meter shows broader directional pressure. Together, they help traders examine whether the evidence supports continuation or signals increasing weakness.

Can directional pressure weaken before the Trend state changes?

Yes. GTS moving toward zero, fading or opposing Delta Flow, and difficulty moving through meaningful support or resistance can reveal deterioration before a formal state change. These observations provide reasons to reassess continuation without automatically confirming a reversal.
